Audi TT: 2007 World Car Design of the Year

At a press conference presented by the MIDWAY GROUP and hosted by the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob Javitz Centre in Manhattan, New York, the Audi TT was declared the 2007 World Car Design of the Year. The Audi TT was chosen from an initial entry list of twenty-eight (28) contenders nominated by World Car jurors from 22 countries throughout the world. Style sells. 2007 World Car Of The Year - Top Ten Finalists

From an initial entry list of twenty-eight (28) new vehicles from all over the world, a short list of ten finalists for the third annual World Car of the Year (WCOTY) awards were announced by the international accounting firm KPMG. The winners of the 2007 WCOTY will be unveiled during Press Preview at the upcoming New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) on Thursday, April 5, 2007. Vehicles are selected and voted on by an internationaljury panel comprised of 45 top-level automotive journalists from around the world. To be eligible, the car must be in production, and sold in at least five countries on two continents. New Mazda2 picked World Car of the Year at New York Auto Show

IT ZIPS around corners, looks sleek and sporty and was named 2008 World Car of the Year Thursday. The Mazda2 held off competition from the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Ford Mondeo to be crowned best of the best at the New York International Auto Show at the Javits Center. The Audi R8 scooped up awards for Best Design and Best Performance and the BMW 118d was named the greenest car on the planet. Women’s World Car Of The Year Award Winner: Jaguar XF

The Jaguar XF is the winner of the first edition of the new contest, Women’s World Car of the Year, organized at London by a group of eight international magazines. 21 models have been tested, and the aspects that counted the most to name the winner were the children safety, the design of the car, the easiness of driving, the colors available for the car and, of course, the safety all-round. Beside the Women’s World Car of the Year award, Jaguar XF also won the Luxury Car distinction, beating opponents like Audi A6. The the Family Car category, Volvo XC60 was elected as winner, this one beating cars like Honda Accord. The Sports Car award was given to Audi TTS, which “stole” the victory from the sporty Mazda MX-5. Winner at the Economy Car category was Volkswagen Golf diesel, leaving the Ford Fiesta Behind
